The bar chart above reflects the investigation of the way residents exercise in a city. As we can see from it, 54.3% of them prefer to exercise alone, which is the highest percentage of 4 categories. By contrast, the proportions of citizens being with family and participating in group activities are 23.9% and 15.8% respectively.
Exercise is a necessary component of a healthy life. Muscles and bodies will grow and become strong only when they are used. However, it is only recently that people have begun to make time for “working out”. In earlier eras, even if people understood the importance of exercise, they would have difficulty finding time for it. Few had significant leisure time, and the struggle for survival was a daily necessity. Today, on the other hand, many people have time to devote to leisure pursuits. But rather than becoming lazy, people of all ages should value exercising, as the bar chart shows. Without a healthy body, one cannot preserve a healthy mind. Exercise teaches us to work hard, strive to improve every day, and never give up even when tired. And people who exercise are much less likely to be affected by depression or other debilitating health conditions. For all these reasons, humans should continue to exercise frequently; whether alone or with their families and friends.
